Our orthodontists say the first three months after debonding (getting braces removed) are the most critical, as your teeth are still getting used to the new positions. This period is when it's easiest for your teeth to move without retainers.Jul 2, 2017

The longer your treatment has been over, the less likely your teeth are to move. And remember that your treatment took months, possibly even years, right? Well, it takes a similar amount of time for your teeth to shift back significantly.

One thing to keep in mind though, it’s that teeth can shift back even after the retainer segment of your treatment has successfully been completed. It doesn’t happen to everyone, but it happened to me. Wearing them consistently as prescribed will reduce the likelyhood of this happening but ultimately your teeth will do what they want. Aligners
